Lazy Bum
YEah, I am a lazy bum. I have all kinds of things to report…tha’ts right, Julie…all kinds of useless information that people whose lives are so boring they must read this.
First off, I’m anxiously awaiting Carrie’s suggestion for the title of the blog….but she couldn’t remember it, so heck..there ya go. AFter that, ralph and I will have a meeting, Logan will decide and the new title will be posted. 
Here’s some general updates until I get some pictures uploaded:
- I’m super duper excited because I went in to get my foot checked, because I have plantar faciitis, and APPARENTLY, plantar faciitis can cause a stress fracture, which is why the pain was SO bad…so I LEFT the office with a dangwalking cast. mostly annoying, really…and hot. I have it for 4 weeks..but it is purple…so I guess that’s the bright side
- We are heading to our expense paid trip to St. Louis on Sunday (thanks kstate). Carrie and I will be in a conference all week (ugh by wednesday) so Ralph and Logan will be kickin’ it at the hotel. We’re planning on skipping out at least one afternoon to go play.
- Let’s see….I know there was more. Logan is almost walking completely by himself now. He’s starting to figure out as of today that he doesn’t HAVE to hold my hand…and he can let go at any time and keep walking..so the experimentation with that has started. Lord help us all.
I’m sure that there was something else I wanted to post…but heck…I forgot
OH. So, I’m super irrated because, since starting weight watchers, I have lost 9.6 pounds as of last saturday (wooohoo!!!). That’d be in 4 weeks. Well, dangit..I have now GAINED about 4-5 pounds in this cast. so ERG! That’s all I can say about that. ERG!!!
STOP!
Logan has totally learned this word. I’m sitting upstairs, and I hear he and Ralph playing the little piano downstairs, and every time ralph touches the piano, Logan yells ‘TOP!’ HAHAHAHA!! He’s even used it on me when I was putting sand on his feet earlier today, and he smacked my hand away and said ‘top!’.

Finally, we were able to get our portraits taken…Logan’s 1 year old pics…and then some family pictures as well. it was about a thousand degrees, and because of some generaly issues on the way there (starbucks casualty) Ralph and I were wearing black. yikes. Sweat was FLOWING by the time we left. But the pictures were AWESOME. Jill is so great. Like I said..she took about 100 pictures….we were out at the arboretum for an hour. She edited them, put them on CD, made me a proof book, and they are all mine. horray! So here is a little gallery….

Big Bird Flinches???
Well, in the words of Shauna, Carrie is a genius. The video apparently works now. I have another one that we took of him walking that was a little further…I just have to get it downloaded, uploaded, whatever. It’s still on my camera.
Ralph and I are going to paint our living room tonight…after Logan goes to bed…so I need to move my rear to get the DVD racks off the wall..they are strapped to the wall for Logan’s sake. But I thought I’d blog first. So, we were watching sesame street tonight after dinner…and have found that Logan appears to fear big bird. The monsters…fine..no prob…but big bird…we have a problem. It was really kind of sad. He was sitting on my lap, bu the would clutch my shirt..and then was flinching all the way through the skit. Cookie monster…cookie monster we love…he brings out belly laughs from Logan. I love that they still incorporate all the old skits and ‘commercials’ into the shows. It’s great.
So the gripe o’ the day….we were supposed to go do family pics this morning out at the arboretum. Well, that was nixed abruptly when it started to POUR..we were all pretty and ready to go. I was so bummed. So we will go tomorrow…in the sweltering after-rain humidity. Logan will be cute at least. Ralph and I..maybe another story..but heck….oh well. I’ll post some pics when I get them back. Our photographer is awesome. She charges $75…and takes pics for a full hour..wherever we want to go, however many people…and then she goes home, edits them, burns them to a CD, and gives me the CD. and she’s SO good. CUTE pictures.

Allright, I get it
I’m sucking at this lately, I get it. but I’ll get back into it. I’ve been desperately trying to get ‘caught up’ since going on vacation, but I don’t really know exactly what ‘caught up’ means. So there ya go. So here’s the bulleted sum-up of what’s going on.
- I weigh in tomorrow..I’m a bit mortified, b/c I didn’t do so hot while on vacation…but it’s okay..at elast I”m expecting it kind of. I’m trying to pump the water tonight to shed any extra water weight that may be hanging around. I’ll bounce back, right?
- I have NO clue why I cna’t get that dang video to play…Carrie???????
- Okay..for back info..Logan had his first hair cut on the day before his B-Day party..here are the results:
- HIs Birthday PArty was a success…stressful to say the least, and his “1″ balloon looked phallic..but you know, only a few of us noted that. Here, again, are some pics of THAT:
- And Minnesota. Wow….10 hours in the car was a LOOONG time..but did the kids ever do GREAT! I was totally impressed. The way home was much worse for Logan. He was a big ole mess from Des Moines all the way home….It was an adventure. We had a great time though. Saw Grandpa and Marian, aunt adele was there, and Patrick even was there from Colorado..with his Fiance. We approved of her. We drank way more coffee than anyone ever should, and ate like crap (see note above)..but I will say I did resist a LOT of stuff..so I was proud. It was SO Nice…alhtough steaming hot on the 4th..could have been a heck of a lot worse. Logan was a party animal…and boy does he love to jump on the beds at the hotel!!! HAHA!! wow am I behind
Well, Hey, I’ve been busy, okay? We just got back from Minnesota yesterday (sunday). Today, Ralph is off of work, so I am using hte opportunity to leave Logan here to go pick up some stuff for school and get our groceries. I haven’t gotten the pictures downloaded from my camera yet from Minnesota, but let me tell you…Logan LOVED it!! He even got to meet Al Franken…and have his pic taken with him!! I’ll post that later as well. Ralph got his autograph too. Who is al franken, you ask? Well, he’s running for senator in Minnesota…he’s highly intelligent, and has great ideas…BUT….he started off on SNL…he’s Stuart…you know…”I’m good enough…I’m smart enough..and gall darnnit…people like me!”. that’s him. Pretty exciting for us, really. So…look soon for the new stuff….Oh..and I’m not sure what’s up with the video of Logan walking. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, since a couple people said they couldn’t see it. It plays on my computer..but that means nothing, of course….hmmmmmmm……I’ll work on that.

So, I’ve decided that ‘Melissa’s Weblog’ is SO boring. So I’m going ot need a new blog title. Any ideas? Go ahead and submit your ideas in the comment section….this of course is directed towards all my AVID readers….shauna and carrie, it seems.
ANYWAY….I need some ideas. I, for some reason have NOTHING coming to mind. So brign on the voting! The winner gets bragging rights.
