Let’s see…

October 28, 2008 at 9:54 pm (Melissa's Random Thoughts)

I guess I should post again.  i have to say, one of my new things is to bake my own bread.  Yes, Barbara is at fault here…really any domesticated thing is from her.  She’s my muse when it comes to that. :)   But, the problem is that it’s SO DARN GOOD.  I mean, I make a loaf and ‘poof’, it’s gone.  Ralph just got home and that was the first thing…”can I eat this bread?”  Still warm from the oven.  Thank the Lord above for the Cross Family giving us a bread machine.  I’m going from, of course, almost $3 a loaf to, well, what…25 cents?  and Logan LOVES to make it.  Mainly becuase he likes to watch the bread go ‘roun-roun’ in the machine..He thinks that’s cute.  i need to get that picture.  I feel lately like I’m crashing in my ability to ‘do’ anything.  I work, but I don’t want to, I make dinner, kind of, and I do what I have to, but you know, but I’m not doing anything I really enjoy lately.  The last time I made a scrapbook page was at least a month ago…that was so stress relieving for me, but I don’t make the time.  But, then, I sit and think…what the hell AM I doing?  The floor is un-vacuumed and un-mopped, the sink is literally FULL of dishes (a HUGE pet peeve of mine), the dishes in the dishwasher are clean, and I’m looking at a clock that says 9:45 thinking that I really need to go to bed.  Our floor desperately needs to be cleaned, oh, and I have yet to finish grading papers for my kstate class.  sadly, on the note of my kstate class, worst class ever monday night.  I feel SO bad for my students.  I mean, AWFUL.  the lecture probably was not bad, but I was trying to describe the dang project to them, I just confused everyone.  The state requires these specific assignments for teacher licensure, which I have to have the students do in 2 classes.  Unfortunately, I’m still really new to the performance assessments, so i’m not really good at describing everything.  anyway, enough of my complaining…here’s a gallery of the buddy walk a couple weeks ago.  It was good fun for Down Syndrome Awareness….Logan had a grand time…although he slept for the actual walk.  Lazy bum. :)

Prepare for a long ‘un

October 26, 2008 at 9:32 am (Logan and Our family)

Because there is a LOT of stuff you gusy need to know.  I mean, you NEED to know it all.  So, instead of going chronologically, we’ll be going in reverse chronological order, really just to be difficult.  So, we start at Friday, when we went to trunk or treat at a local church!  So, Yoda was unveiled.  That’s right, Yoda.  It was at Barbara’s church, and we had a great time.  Barbara of course had the best trunk (that’s what she said), with Larissa dressed up as a scary gorilla inside.  The girls…horrified until she took off her mask; Logan, on the other hand, went right up to the van, and then wanted to get inside.  After about 4 cars, Logan figured out exactly what was going on, and sat down with his candy bag to sort through.  Here’s the pics:

Well, I’m tired of typing.  And I better help ralph clean or else I’ll be in trouble. :)  So, you will all have to anxiously await the next posting and more pictures!!!!   (don’t bite your nails off)

It’s been awhile

October 12, 2008 at 9:05 am (Uncategorized)

since I have done an update here.  i’m sure you have all been biting your nails to know what is going on in my life.  Well, wait no longer!!!!  the time has come!!!

Logan and I took a little trip to Manhattan this weekend.  We are there now.  I’m actually listening to him cry himself to sleep for his morning nap.  I presented at the KAEYC conference this weekend (Kansas Association for the Education of Young children) so Logan came along for the ride and had some ‘ma-mah’ time.  He’s started calling mom that.  He had a good time with her…they baked a cake, then ate it..ate some cookies, drank some juice, built with blocks, and learned how to take lids off of markers and put them back on (thanks mom).  Who wouldn’t love grandma’s?? :)   I presented sat. AM, so they came up to the union afterwards and Logan got to run around there.

But the big news?  Well, Mom and I (mostly mom) made Logan’s halloween costume.  That’s right….we’ve outdone ourselves again.  this year, he is Yoda.  Store-bought…puh.  It’s pretty awesome.  The core of it is a green hoodie sweatshirt, and then we made a robe, attached ears and hair.  He looks SO cute in it.  Poor kid.  Doesn’t have a chance.  Stay tuned for pictures!
