Supermom

August 23, 2009 at 9:41 pm (Melissa's Random Thoughts)

That’s right.  that’s me.  I cook, I clean, i shop, I work 2 jobs – and I FIXED OUR DISHWASHER.  I’m so impressed with my mad skilz that I had to blog it.  Granted – I did call Jeff after I took the first water ‘arm’ out – but then I didn’t even have to call him again!!  Horray for me!!  AND - we have washed a load, and the dishes are SUPER clean!!!

Our dishwasher has been acting janky, and not really cleaning anything.  I’ve been ‘pre-washing’ everything.  So I remembered that Jeff said you could take the bottom apart and get down to the grinder to clean it out.  (we have the same dishwasher).  He had done it once before on our machine as well, but I decided that this time, it was all about me.  It was a pain in the butt – no easy task (for me).  And it was disgusting – I don’t even know where the giant bean came from that I found there.  You know how nasty your dishwasher GETS down under all the ’stuff’?  It’s nasty.  Anyway, I got it all back together – realized that I forgot a part (cuss words!) and then re-fixed it.  And, I was cooking dinner at the same time.  Yeah, I’m impressed with myself.  Ralph said that this is ‘why he married me.’  gee, thanks.

Logan meets a famous person….

August 22, 2009 at 3:52 pm (Logan and Our family)

First, we told him who it was:

“Logan - we are going to go see DIEGO!!!!”

diego1

We got there – and we were 20 minutes early – before Diego’s arrival.  well, he did GREAT waiting for that 20 mins (in line).  then, it took ANOTHER 20 minutes for the line to move us closer….finally, Logan saw him:

We were not sure what the reaction was going to be.  there was a little girl in front of us who was probably around 4 years old.  She saw diego, SCREAMED and ran the other direction.  It was classicaly funny.   But really, can you blame her?  I mean, Diego was about 6 feet tall.  EGADS!  anyway, we were pleasently surprised when our boy RAN up to him:

diego3Got his hug, and then got his picture taken.  He was SO happy….They took a picture and printed it out – but of course I was also taking pictures (theirs was awful):

Diego4By then, it was REALLY late – and the poor boy was so excited, but so tired….this is him on the way home:

Quotes

August 19, 2009 at 8:02 pm (Logan and Our family)

Logan went into the living room and said ‘DADDY – I WANT TV.’  I said ‘Logan, how do you ask?’  His response:  ‘Use dis remote, PLEASE’.

We had cookies for dessert, and Logan inhaled his.  I still had mine, and he came over and asked if he could have a bite. I said sure, and gave him a small piece.  He said ‘oh wait….let’s trade…took the big piece from me, gave me the little piece and ran away.

I asked Sharon to pick up some coffee pods for me when she was going to Target (With Logan in tow).  She said that when they were going – she kept saying ‘Logan, we need to get coffee for mommy.’…he kept telling her NO about it…She couldn’t figure it out, and then he finally said ‘No, sharon – Coffe is for COFFEE MAKER’

How to state the obvious

August 15, 2009 at 3:20 pm (Uncategorized)

One of our ‘things’ we do in the morning is turn on the weather channel in our bedroom.  Logan likes to be ‘in charge’ of that.  I, if you don’t know, am obsessed with weather.  I love the weather channel, i love to watch the radar, I just love it! :)   So, he talks about ‘checking the weader’.  Today, Ralph told me that while I was in the shower, Logan wanted to go downstairs, so ralph was deterring him for just a minute and asked him to check the weather.  Logan went over and said ‘it’s hot today’.  Ralph said ‘is it raining?  Look at the weather channel and see!’ (ralph was in the closet getting clothes).  Logan stopped for a minute, turned and said ‘Dad….look outside!’

The evil laugh

August 5, 2009 at 6:36 am (Logan and Our family)

So when we were at Shatto yesterday – all the kids were sitting beside each other eating lunch – there was a lot of food exchanging going on – and sharing, etc….really, quite funny! :)   Anyway, Logan swiped a grape off of A’s plate.  She was NOT happy about that, and told him so.  So, I gave her a few more – he then grabbed another two and shoved them in his mouth!  He was smiling HUGE – apparently this was quite funny.  She, of course, was appalled…..He chewed up the grapes and said – “I ate your grapes!  Muahahahaha!”

That’s right, my 2 year old has learned the ‘evil laugh’.  I’m so proud.

Shatto Milk

August 4, 2009 at 7:54 pm (Logan and Our family, Melissa's Random Thoughts)

DUDE – Hell’s kitchen is a great show – I don’t care what anyone says.  I love it.  I love the terrible, disturbing people that are on there.  I love chef ramsey and I love it when he yells.  he’s awesome.  Anyway, I love it….but where in the world do they find these yahoos?

So, what does that have to do with Shatto milk company?  well, nothing.  I just saw something shiney.

Allright – so, today, we took our final ‘outing’ for the summer.  We went to Shatto Milk Company.  They are up north of kansas city and are a working dairy farm (of course).  It was really fun!  Logan and I went with our regular large group of girls -Sharon and the girls, plus 2 other friends of mine and their kids (also students of mine).  What a fun trip.  They got to taste all the different types of milk that they make and sell (at hyvee, specifically).   This included:  strawberry milk, chocolate milk, orange milk (tasted like an orange-cicle), root beer milk (AWESOME), and banana milk (sounds disturbing – but was really good).  Natalie stated that the chocolate milk was, in fact, ‘the best in the ENTIRE WORLD’.  :)

they then got to taste some cheese, go see it get bottled, see how they clean all the glass bottles (on a machine that is from the 50s, and the only one left of its kind), watch them use the milking machines (is that what that’s called?), and then, the big thing – pet the calves, and milk a cow.  That was pretty exciting all the way around, to milk a cow, let me tell you!!!  We then hung out and ate our lunches, and then headed home!  It was a great ‘field trip’ for us all.  So sad I have to go back to work in 2 days.  here’s the milking (more pics to come):

Tales from Potty Training #2 of……

August 2, 2009 at 9:12 am (Logan and Our family)

So, yesterday, Logan was, again, kind of constipated.  poor boy.  As we were playing in the basement – he said ‘I have stinky poo!!’  so we ran upstairs, and got him on the toilet.  Well, nothing.  Sat there for awhile, read a book, etc…nothing.  So, as he got up, i said ‘well, let’s put your diaper on.’  As he skipped out of the room he turned with his hands up and said “No, I not need diaper – because my penis.”  Well, when you put it that way.

So, about an hour later, he’s over playing with his toys and I heard a little whine – and he then said ‘AA!  STinky POO POO!!!’  So, we got the potty seat over to him…..he sat on it while playing with his toys and lo and behold, POOP!!  Horray!!!!!   Boy was it huge, in case you were wondering.  But, he was so excited, that he was squatting down to look at it (of course!!  It was a sight to behold), and touched his bottom to the floor, leaving a poo mark.  Awesome.  Let me tell you, of ALL the purchases we have made over the past few years – the steamer is number one on the greatest purchases ever.
