Uncle Kelly

September 13, 2009 at 2:55 pm (Uncategorized)

For those of my readers who are not aware, my uncle Kelly, who is one of my mom’s 2 brothers, has been missing in the superstition mountains in Arizona since Thursday.  There is a massive search underway – at one point yesterday there were 450 people searching.  Today, Sunday afternoon, there is still no news.  He went out thursday morning, and when he didn’t return that evening, my aunt of course started calling friends.  They know a lot of people down there and are friends with some search and rescue people, so a search started immediately.  As far as we know, he had 2 hard boiled eggs and 2 gallons of water on him – they have found both egg shells – no other evidence…no glasses, no walking stick, no nothing; so we continue to assume that he is just moving….sure he will find his way out.  Please keep him in your thoughts.  Here’s the most recent news article – you can also watch video on the right of the screen.

The first day of school

September 1, 2009 at 8:19 pm (Logan and Our family)

I took the day off of work today to take Logan to his first day of school.  He is going twice a week.  After today, Sharon will take him to and from.

He was SO excited this morning.  In fact he kept saying that he was ‘excited for school’.  When we went to the open house, Logan was about half a head taller and much more…um…girthier…than many of the children there – but there was one little boy who appeared to also be a ‘bruiser’.  Logan was talking about him immediately when we got in the car to go.  He calls his teachers ‘ms. caren’ and ‘ms. jem’…although their names are cara and jen.  :)

We took the classic first day of school picture of him under the lilac bush in the front of the house.  He was WAY more excited about his lunch than even his backpack……because he has a cool ‘formers’ (transformers) lunch box you know.

Anyway, he did GREAT!  he gave me a hug and kiss and said good-bye – his teachers said that there were no tears and he was a breeze all day!  Horray, Logan!!!  He even took a nap for an hour, although he and antoher child apparently traded beds!!!  HA!  When I went to pick him up, he was happily eating his snack.  He was telling me all about singing at school, painting his feet yellow, and playing on the playground.  *sniff*…Our boy is growing up.

Look for pictures soon….

Supermom

August 23, 2009 at 9:41 pm (Melissa's Random Thoughts)

That’s right.  that’s me.  I cook, I clean, i shop, I work 2 jobs – and I FIXED OUR DISHWASHER.  I’m so impressed with my mad skilz that I had to blog it.  Granted – I did call Jeff after I took the first water ‘arm’ out – but then I didn’t even have to call him again!!  Horray for me!!  AND - we have washed a load, and the dishes are SUPER clean!!!

Our dishwasher has been acting janky, and not really cleaning anything.  I’ve been ‘pre-washing’ everything.  So I remembered that Jeff said you could take the bottom apart and get down to the grinder to clean it out.  (we have the same dishwasher).  He had done it once before on our machine as well, but I decided that this time, it was all about me.  It was a pain in the butt – no easy task (for me).  And it was disgusting – I don’t even know where the giant bean came from that I found there.  You know how nasty your dishwasher GETS down under all the ’stuff’?  It’s nasty.  Anyway, I got it all back together – realized that I forgot a part (cuss words!) and then re-fixed it.  And, I was cooking dinner at the same time.  Yeah, I’m impressed with myself.  Ralph said that this is ‘why he married me.’  gee, thanks.

Logan meets a famous person….

August 22, 2009 at 3:52 pm (Logan and Our family)

First, we told him who it was:

“Logan - we are going to go see DIEGO!!!!”

We got there – and we were 20 minutes early – before Diego’s arrival.  well, he did GREAT waiting for that 20 mins (in line).  then, it took ANOTHER 20 minutes for the line to move us closer….finally, Logan saw him:

We were not sure what the reaction was going to be.  there was a little girl in front of us who was probably around 4 years old.  She saw diego, SCREAMED and ran the other direction.  It was classicaly funny.   But really, can you blame her?  I mean, Diego was about 6 feet tall.  EGADS!  anyway, we were pleasently surprised when our boy RAN up to him:

diego3Got his hug, and then got his picture taken.  He was SO happy….They took a picture and printed it out – but of course I was also taking pictures (theirs was awful):

Diego4By then, it was REALLY late – and the poor boy was so excited, but so tired….this is him on the way home:

Quotes

August 19, 2009 at 8:02 pm (Logan and Our family)

Logan went into the living room and said ‘DADDY – I WANT TV.’  I said ‘Logan, how do you ask?’  His response:  ‘Use dis remote, PLEASE’.

We had cookies for dessert, and Logan inhaled his.  I still had mine, and he came over and asked if he could have a bite. I said sure, and gave him a small piece.  He said ‘oh wait….let’s trade…took the big piece from me, gave me the little piece and ran away.

I asked Sharon to pick up some coffee pods for me when she was going to Target (With Logan in tow).  She said that when they were going – she kept saying ‘Logan, we need to get coffee for mommy.’…he kept telling her NO about it…She couldn’t figure it out, and then he finally said ‘No, sharon – Coffe is for COFFEE MAKER’

How to state the obvious

August 15, 2009 at 3:20 pm (Uncategorized)

One of our ‘things’ we do in the morning is turn on the weather channel in our bedroom.  Logan likes to be ‘in charge’ of that.  I, if you don’t know, am obsessed with weather.  I love the weather channel, i love to watch the radar, I just love it! :)   So, he talks about ‘checking the weader’.  Today, Ralph told me that while I was in the shower, Logan wanted to go downstairs, so ralph was deterring him for just a minute and asked him to check the weather.  Logan went over and said ‘it’s hot today’.  Ralph said ‘is it raining?  Look at the weather channel and see!’ (ralph was in the closet getting clothes).  Logan stopped for a minute, turned and said ‘Dad….look outside!’

The evil laugh

August 5, 2009 at 6:36 am (Logan and Our family)

So when we were at Shatto yesterday – all the kids were sitting beside each other eating lunch – there was a lot of food exchanging going on – and sharing, etc….really, quite funny! :)   Anyway, Logan swiped a grape off of A’s plate.  She was NOT happy about that, and told him so.  So, I gave her a few more – he then grabbed another two and shoved them in his mouth!  He was smiling HUGE – apparently this was quite funny.  She, of course, was appalled…..He chewed up the grapes and said – “I ate your grapes!  Muahahahaha!”

That’s right, my 2 year old has learned the ‘evil laugh’.  I’m so proud.
